Happy Halloween! Dining Services kicked off the Halloween weekend last Thursday night with the 11th Annual Great Pumpkin Carving Contest. More than 50 students put their carving skills to the test as they sat side-by-side with their fellow competitors in the upper dining area of Levine Marketplace. There were many creative designs this year including a pumpkin hamburger, a map of Boston's MBTA system, and even an Apple logo in honor of Steve Jobs.

On Friday afternoon, the finished pumpkins were put on display in a spooky Halloween pumpkin patch in the Xhibition Kitchen. Here the students and visitors voted for their favorite design and the winners were chosen by popular vote. Click below to watch a video of Thursday's pumpkin carving and Friday's display.

Finally, we'd like to congratulate our winners:

Caitlyn Fischman & Micha Wood - 3rd place
"Circle of Life"

Emily Iverson & Felipe Torres - 2nd place
"Angry Birds"

Mandy Woo & Jessica Chan - 1st place
"NU Husky"

Thanks to everyone for coming and be sure to follow NUDining on Facebook and Twitter to be the first to know when we start signups for the Gingerbread Construction Contest this December!
